Happy World Water Day

March 22, 2018 marks the 25th World Water Day! This year's theme for the celebration is "Nature for Water" with the underlying purpose of exploring nature-based solutions for the problems that we face regarding water.

Today, around 2.1 billion people live without safe drinking water at home around the world which causes several problems in health, education and livelihoods. This is a major concern that everybody should be worried about. Participating in World Water Day and committing to preserving water and nature even in our little ways everyday can actually help create a more sustainable environment.

United Nation's Sustainable Development 6 plan commits the world to ensuring that everyone has access to safe drinking water by year 2030 which also targets protecting the natural environment and reducing pollution. This year's World Water Day's theme best fits the goal and everybody should commit to it.

"Take action. Wherever you are and whatever you do on March 22, make it about nature and water."

Also I share my thoughts over at my friends WaterAid page on how we can make a difference in the world.

If you’re choosing to reduce your fat intake, look at foods that are high in water content. Think watermelon, cauliflower, spinach (they contain 92 percent of water) We’ve all been told how good drinking at least eight glasses of water is for our body and skin, so by increasing the foods that are high in water will make that hydration even more interesting.
