Transformation Tuesday with Jamie Bailey

WOW Jamie you look amazing and sound so happy with your progress and so you should! You have made the commitment and continue to be organised and prepping in advance to make it happen! Such a great role model for your gorgeous girl Macy – she must be super proud!

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date?

I am 32 years old with an 11 month old baby girl. I have always been very active but had reservations about getting pregnant because I was afraid of what the weight gain would do to my body. Once pregnant I gained over 40 pounds. There were so many women that told me to just accept the fact my body would never be the same. 6 months after having the baby I was almost down to my pre pregnancy weight by severely restricting calories and doing cardio everyday.

At about 7 months postpartum my workout partner and I decided to give Kayla Itsines BBG (Bikini Body Guide) program a try. With a new baby and a full time job as a nurse anesthetist time is crucial. The resistance workouts in the first 12 weeks were 3 resistance workouts in under 3o minutes! SOLD! We started our Instagram fitness accounts for accountability and went all in! 18 weeks later and I have no regrets except I wish I had discovered it sooner!

What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What’s changed since then?

I am from Louisiana and food is everything here. My mother was a single mom of 4 for my early childhood and we ate whatever we could get. The house was filled with sugary snacks. As a teenager I ate a ton of fastfood and gained a significant amount of weight because I was not educated on nutrition.

Currently I live with a health nut who is a great cook! Fruit and vegetables are always easily accessible. Our typical dinners consists of grilled chicken or fish with couscous or quinoa. Add a fresh salad with a vegetable side and viola. I love sweet potatoes, asparagus, and broccoli!

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching?

We just finished a half marathon in New Orleans last week. In my 20s I was running for time. Now in my 30s I am running for fun and to avoid injury. Of course I enjoy watching the Saints or LSU play football!

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile?

Macy my daughter has pretty much occupied every minute of my free time away from work! She is so much fun. Just learning to walk and into EVERYTHING! Aside from her and our Yorkies we love to travel! So excited to be heading to France for the first time this year.

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change?

Well what finally made me snap and try something new was a trainer at my gym called me over as I was leaving and asked me if I was pregnant again. I replied no and smiled halfheartedly and walked out. I was in tears by the time I reached the car. The next day I went to work and my workout partner suggested we try something different. That’s when she told me about BBG.

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months?

My goal is to stick with The BBG program and see where it takes us. Ultimately I would like to raise more awareness about health and fitness in Louisiana. The last survey I saw rated us the most unhealthy state of all the U.S.

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation?

First of all that it takes time and try to be patient and not get discouraged. Consistency and planning are the key. I am very busy during the week so I prep my lunches on Sunday for the week. It takes less than an hour. That way I don’t get tempted to eat a huge unhealthy meal at work. I keep protein bars and fruit in my locker and try to eat every few hours even if I’m not super hungry.

You can catch Jamie over on Instagram to follow her amazing progress!  Keep it up gorgeous you look FAB!

I would love you to share your story here so we can shout it from the roof to together!!
